pranaDOGS, founded by Durango resident Marcy Eckhardt, is a dog training and care company specializing in building relationships between people and their pets. A long-time resident of Durango, Marcy has been helping area dogs for years through her work with LPCHS, Dogster’s, City of Farmington, San Juan Animal League, and many others.

What is pranaDOGS

In a nutshell – pranaDOGS is a small dog training company in Durango, Colorado focused on building relationships between people and their pets.

In reality –“I’m a dog lover who is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs….all dogs. I do that by working with dogs who are between homes and by improving relationships between dogs and their people through; training classes, problem solving and fun activities.”

Who is the Trainer behind pranaDOGS

Marcy Eckhardt’s experience with dogs is vast. Not only is she a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, she opened and ran Western New York’s first doggie daycare, is a trained groomer, Certified in the Pet Saver First Aid Program, active in spay/neuter efforts in the four-corners and is a published author with a book detailing life for dogs in shelters.

Marcy can be found many days at La Plata County Humane Society where she runs weekly classes and daily play yards as well as conducting behavior rehabilitation for animals with issues.

Why the name pranaDOGS

prana – Sanskrit for ‘the energy that gives us life’

“I’m drawn to dogs, always have been. Years ago I realized that dogs make me feel better. Anytime something is off in my life, I “go to the dogs” and things seem better. Considering how much better dog energy makes me feel, the name pranaDOGS only made sense.”

Where is pranaDOGS

pranaDOGS offers group classes, private lessons, and an open play-gym.

Our most popular program is our Day-Train. Day-Train is a program where Marcy comes to your house for two weeks and trains your dog on different behaviors (decided on ahead of time). This is great for those individuals whose dogs need some extra training but who don’t have the time or patience to work daily with their pet.
